Common Faults and Causes Excavators operate in dusty and highly vibrating environments, making water pumps prone to various faults, including:
Coolant Leakage: This is a frequent fault, often caused by aging or wear of seals such as water seals and sealing rings, or improper installation of seals. In winter, frozen coolant can also crack the pump body, causing leakage.
Abnormal Noise and Seizure: Bearings subjected to radial and axial forces over time will produce a "humming" noise after wear, and in severe cases, the bearing may seize and become unable to rotate. Impurities in the coolant will also accelerate bearing wear.
Decreased Circulation Efficiency: Impurities in the coolant can erode the impeller, causing deformation, cracks, or even breakage, reducing pumping capacity. Simultaneously, radiator blockage and thermostat malfunctions increase the water pump load, indirectly reducing its circulation efficiency.
