Small Tips
Four installation tips for piston ring installation tools
Expand first, then slide
Gently unscrew the expander knob counterclockwise to widen the steel strip opening beyond the ring thickness, like loosening a ring. Then, slip the expanded tool onto the outer circumference of the ring, pushing it forward while simultaneously turning it clockwise. Once the ring opening aligns with the notch, turn it back half a turn clockwise, allowing the ring to slide into the groove along the cone. This avoids forcibly breaking the alloy ring.

Start at 45°
Align the tool inlet at a 45° angle to the piston pin direction. First, press down on one end of the ring, then slowly "coil" it around the circumference. This prevents the opening from violently hitting the cylinder wall. If you feel it can't be pushed further, gently rotate the piston half a turn, using inertia to allow the ring to automatically return to the groove, saving effort and ensuring safety.

Chamfer first
When installing the second ring, place the ring mark "TOP" upwards, and the tool's conical surface upwards as well, allowing the chamfer to enter the guide tube first. While gently pressing down on the ring surface, rotate the handle clockwise, allowing the ring opening to slide down the slope. This avoids scratching the chrome plating and prevents incorrect installation leading to oil burning.

Slow retraction
After the ring is fully inserted into the groove, do not rush to pull out the tool. First, loosen the expander two turns to allow the steel strip to move radially away from the ring surface, and then slowly pull it out along the axis. If you pull it forcefully, the ring opening may be lifted and popped out. Returning it to its original position is time-consuming and easy to break. Retracting slowly by one second saves ten seconds.
